AppId is over the quota
Many people are turning to something they can do themselves to earn money rather than depending on an employer. This can be a full time work from home job or a part time one that brings in that welcome added finance at the end of the month. Not all work from home ideas are successful, but if you have a reasonable home, a spare bedroom and a liking for people, you may want to consider running a bed and breakfast business from your home.
After all, just about everything you need is already available, although you may want to invest in some new linen and perhaps even new bedroom furniture. It would be nice to start off with a new mattress and new sheets, towels and doona. Anyone who loves decorating their home would enjoy refurbishing the guest room to make it suitable for overnight guests. You would probably need extra linen and towels too, so that you would not be caught out with none during wet weather.
Making sure there are no hazards in the bedroom or the rest of the house is also important. Guests will need to come into the breakfast room and walk through the house to the bathroom, so you need to have more than just the bedroom clean and tidy. There should be no tatty carpets or scuffed floor rugs anywhere. In short, anything that needs fixing should be fixed before your first guests arrive.
If you live in an area where temperatures are extreme, you may want to install air-conditioning in the guestroom and provide a safe heater. If you have a bedroom with an en suite, that could be used for the guestroom so that they do not have to use another bathroom along with the family.
Once everything is ready and spick and span, you need to do some marketing so that people will know where to come. You can advertise in a national newspaper and if your town has a tourism website as many do these days, ask if you can have your bed and breakfast listed on it. Of course, you will have to decide on pricing and what is included.
You may offer a continental breakfast that the guests can help themselves to; or you could make a feature of offering a cooked luxury breakfast of bacon and eggs. It is wise to list what is available rather than asking people what they want. Otherwise they may ask for something you cannot give them.
Some bed and breakfast places also offer the option of a picnic lunch, especially if they are in the country or a country town where no food is available at the many tourist sites. This would come at an extra cost, of course and you could have a couple of different options for guests to choose from.
If you are not certain exactly what you should offer at your bed and breakfast business, why not book into one somewhere for a night or a weekend and see how it is done?
